Unconfirmed reports that a Blackburn fan has died at the Brit today.....

Fukin hope not....

Didnt we lose a fan travelling back from the same fixture away this season...?

If so, that would just be fuckin eerie...

Latest, amongst all the murder rumours and such drivel, is he was standing on a bin and slipped and tragically cracked his skull........

A football fan critically injured at a Premier League match on Saturday died in hospital, police said on Sunday.

The Blackburn Rovers supporter was found unconscious in a stand during Saturday's clash between Stoke City and Blackburn at the Britannia Stadium.

He was treated at the scene for a head injury and cardiac arrest, then rushed to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

But Staffordshire Police on Sunday said the man died in hospital just before 2am.

A spokesman said: "A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at 1.55am this morning at University Hospital North Staffordshire.

"The circumstances are being fully investigated and a 25-year-old man remains in custody and is helping police with their inquiries."

The victim was found collapsed in the concourse area of the south stand just after the half-time interval, where a group of Blackburn supporters were gathered.

Chief Inspector Adrian Roberts, match commander at the game which saw Stoke beat Blackburn 3-0, said there were just over 1,300 Blackburn fans at the game and no Stoke fans were involved.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to the stadium just before 4.20pm on Saturday.

A statement on the Blackburn Rovers website said the man was among a 1,300-strong Rovers following in the South Stand.

Stoke City said police were investigating the incident and the club would make no further comment.

rip

I've heard they were fighting amongst themselves ( rumour ) and i've also heard they were playing a game where a bin is chucked and someone heads it...done it at other grounds too..either way, what a tragic loss....Blackburn fans have Stoke fans deepest condolences...

It sounds like they were fighting ...

Quote :
Ch Insp Roberts said an investigation had been started into how the man
came by his injuries and a 25-year-old man from Preston had been
arrested.

The lad has been named on a few Rovers forums. He left behind a girlfriend and young child.

I hope it was some kind of very sad accident though. Nobody should go to a game of footy and not return home that night.

I for one was at the game today, during half time there became a
saparation of blackburn fans between darwen and blackburn. numerous
items were thrown and kicked such as plastic bottles. the fans where
roudy and hyped throughout half time, until some idiot, decides it
would be funny to thrown a large heavy thick plastic bin, the bin was
thrown into the crowd of blackburn fans and hit a male on the head
knocking him out and hitting his head for a second time on the floor.
as for the steards and police response, i have to say it was shocking!
took at least five minutes for police to show up! i hope the injured
fan pulls through and my thoughts are with him and his family.

Eye witness

Burnley have unveiled ambitious plans for the redevelopment of Turf Moor as part of a project which also includes the country's first "Football University".

Clarets chief executive Paul Fletcher is leading the "Premier Plan", in conjunction with Burnley Borough Council and The Prince's Charities.

And he said: "If you dare to dream, dream big, and this is not just about Burnley Football Club, this is about the whole town of Burnley and potentially leaving a massive legacy brought on by promotion to the Premier League."

Was it crouch your on about? I vaguely remember Torres doing similar?

NORWEGIAN punk rockers have written a song declaring their undying love for Blackburn Rovers.

The band, Seven, have penned a tribute called Blackburn (Rovers In
His Heart), telling the true story of a boy who loves the club more
than anything else – including his girlfriend.

And the guitar-based track namechecks Rovers legend Colin
Hendry rather than Norwegian stars such as current player Morten Gamst
Pedersen and old favourite Henning Berg, who helped lift the
Premiership trophy for the club in 1995.

Asle Roedfjell, 31, promoter of the band, said the song was proving popular on football forums in the UK and Norway.

The Rovers fan said: “It’s the true story of a former band member
who lost his heart to Blackburn Rovers, and then he lost his
girlfriend.

"It has a cross-over appeal because a lot of people can relate to it.

“There are a lot of people in Norway who follow Blackburn Rovers like all the other big Premier League clubs.

"Norwegian people are known for their craziness for UK football!

“Blackburn also have an association with Norwegian stars like Morten Gamst Pedersen and Henning Berg.

“They are some of the best players this country has produced and
having those players in a Blackburn Rovers team increases the
popularity of the club here.

“Every Saturday night we watch the hightlights on the TV.

“It’s true, though, that Colin Hendry is the only player in the song, and he’s actually Scottish!

“But a lot of people here think of Colin when they think of Blackburn Rovers. He was a legendary player.”

Asle has been in touch with the club to ask if the band can perform
at the ground on a matchday, and he is planning a tour in the local
area next year.

The song is sung in English and is being supported by the Blackburn
Rovers Supporters’ Association Norway website, where a high-quality mp3
download is available at http://www.brscn.com.

Seven have released five albums, featured on MTV and have had chart hits in Norway.
