I just wanted to make that point because I think that the racist mentality [according to my definition] is unhealthy.
In regards to what Mos Def said, I don't think you can overlook the fact that his reference to 'African-American life' is only part of a larger point.
It wasn't a "I hate whitey" rant, it was an example of the injustice that American people face at the hands of their government and compatriots that, in fact, applies globally.
I believe that he uses that example to try to make a superb point about the unhealthy mentality of people in general - In the words of Noam Chomsky: If 'they' do it it's terrorism; if we do it it's counter-terrorism.
