| On my mum's PC and have this problem now and then. When on sites that require a form of media to buffer i.e Youtube and the likes. They videos just won't play, i get the little circle thing going round that you get just before it starts palying, but thats it. I can leave the page open for an hour and it won't play. I have even at times tried to close the page and go back to it, restart the comp but again nothing. It usual takes for me to turn the comp off for a few hours or more before it will work again. It wouldn't be so bad if i knew what was causing it. Any ideas?? | |

| What are the CPU and memory usage like while you are having troubles? Have you tried disabling your firewall temporarily? Have you tried resetting your router (if you have one)? Have you tried another browser (or the browser in safe-mode)? Have you got the latest version of flash player (and did you install it properly)? What's the temperature in your system like? Is it at a common time of the day that it happens (I.E - Peak times)? | |

| I have tried all them things over various times of this happening, never does anything. Really strange, i just have to switch comp off and leave it for a good few hours, sometimes till the next day | |

| Is the harddrive dusty? When my dad's desktop won't buffer, he just pulls out a shopvac and vacuums out all the dust and shit. | |

| Good suggestion..........whether that works or not it never hurts to hoover out the PC once in a while, keeps everything from overheating and clogging up! | |

| If you're on a Windows XP machine, pressing the ctrl + alt + del buttons will bring up the task manager so you can see what's running and by clicking the tab marked "Processes" you can see how much memory/cpu they're using. Then if you want you can right click on a process to see a list of options you can perform with it. (Including to stop that process.) On vista (not sure about 7) it brings up a full page that at the bottom will be something like "open Task list", click that and you'll see a list with everything open. From there it's just like the XP version. Though out of curiosity, what browser are you using anyway? And what did you use for the alternate browser? | |

| I daren't mess with any of the processes, never understood what i was stopping, so figured best not to mess with it.
As for the browser, i use Firefox, the alternate was just internet explorer. I figured if the same thing was happening with both then it had to be something with the comp itself | |
