| France coach Marc Lievremont has launched an astonishing attack on England, saying 'nobody likes them'. The two unbeaten teams clash at Twickenham on Saturday in game that could decide the outcome of this year's RBS Six Nations Championship. And Lievremont has cranked up the heat several notches by saying his side has the backing of the other nations in the tournament, because they all dislike the English and what they represent. "We don't like them and it's better to say that than be hypocritical," he said. "We have a bit of trouble with the English. We respect them - well in my case at least I respect them. "But you couldn't say we have the slightest thing in common with them. "We appreciate our Italian cousins with whom we share the same quality of life. Encouragement "We appreciate the Celts and their conviviality and then among all these nations we have one huge thing in common. We all don't like the English. "We beat Ireland yet left Dublin with the encouragement of all the Irish who said 'for pity's sake, beat the English'. "With the Scots, it's the same thing. It is also what gives you strength against the English, more than just because of rugby." Lievremont continued his distasteful invective, adding: "This insular country, who always drape themselves in the national flag, their hymns, their chants, their traditions. They are people who one regards as a very proud people. "But we are also very aware, in terms of planning and preparation, that the English are already in 2011 World Cup mode. "We can feel that all of the English players are physically on a different level." | |

| been to france once and would never go back again, even if you payed for the who trip. I'm not saying there are no nice french people out there, i'm sure there is. But driving from Paris through the country to the south coast, and not once did i meet a french person i liked. All were rude, arrogant an up their own arses. But other than that, i don't understand were this age old hatred of each other comes from, especially as we fought side by side during WW2. To say they like the italians, a country that joined forces with the germans during WW2. Idiot!!! | |

| You wouldn't go on a free trip to France because you met some people that you didn't like there last time that you went? ... Maybe there is widespread antipathy, maybe there isn't, but I would wager the latter is true mostly because I believe ( it's more like hope actually ) that most people are rational. I guess, specifically, that means that, save rampant jingoists, most people don't call on historical irrelevancies or generalise so heavily when prejudging other people; if they feel the need to have prejudice at all. | |

Nope certainly wouldn't. We drove through a hell of a lot of the country and not once came across anyone person that was nice or made you feel welcome. They all looked at you and treated you like you were an inconvenience to them and their day. As i say i am sure there are some really nice french people out there, but i never cam across one, and you think you would travelling that far through a country. I know some may think i am judging these people, but at the end of the day that is what they did to me and my family, form and opinion of us before knowing us, or even trying to. And then treating us based on that. So cos of all that i'm not fond of the french and would never go back there.

| I like them myself too Gaz. Would love nothing more than to see all the British nations in the likes of the football world cup. Not sure why they hate us either, maybe cos we do slightly better than them and it comes from some kind of jealousy? Either way i like em and will still continue to wish them well | |

I loved both countries, except Barcelona, it was horrid, I did mange to get lost and ended up in apart I should not have been in, the poor part. Both the French and Spainish were lovely. Even with my bad lingo and frantic hand waving.

| TK, dont know what parts you went to , nor how you reacted to the French . I have been here just over 35 years and have had no problems cos I am English. To the contrary people here want to know why I came, where I am from etc . Sure there is a love-hate thing between the French and the English but this is more fun and lively bantering , especially in rugby and football matches . A lot of people here also recognise what England did for their country during two world wars . As for the french rugby coach that is his opinion , ask Paul Sake and Johnny Wilkinson how they are treated at Toulon . Wilkinson is recognised as one of the best in the World . | |

| Having read your coms here is my Frenchman's opinion : There are idiots everywhere who make prouve of idiocy and "nationalism". Particularly at the supporters of football any confused nations. This is a fact and not an absurd idea of my part. That is why I prefer the rugby where the spirit is different. I'm from Paris but I live in Charente and we have Englishman's big community, I perfectly get along well with them and I have many friends there. We invite each other even regularly some the others. A very important thing was said by Inuit : do not imagine to yourselves that the French people do not know the price which the English People (and the others) paid during the Second World War. French are grateful. My father was resistant, he blew up bridges and rails. He also spent time between France and London to repatriate allied soldiers fallen in France (paratroopers). It is necessary to keep an opened spirit and not to think that everybody is to be put in the same basket. I LIKE ENGLISH PEOPLE AND I RESPECT THEM TOO | |

| Anybody was not in third one half-time?? I can say to you that English people and French people are hand in hand when it is a question of lowering(going down) a good beer.
Now, as regards Marc Liévremont's statements, you should not stop in the word of single French.
I love you.
