(Whats known over here as the Lying Down game)
An Australian man has been killed after falling from a balcony while taking part in an internet craze known as 'planking', police have said.
The victim, reportedly named Acton Beale and aged in his early 20s, was being photographed by a friend when he plunged seven floors from a railing in Brisbane
'Planking' involves people lying flat on their stomachs in various places, some dangerous, and then posting photographs on the web.
The craze is becoming increasingly popular in Australia and police fear it may not be the last 'planking' death.
Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Ross Barnett said the victim had been trying to lie on the balcony rail when he fell.
He said the man and another person had been 'planking' in different areas on their way home after a night out.
Last week, police warned people of the dangers they faced if they took part in the trend.
Now Mr Barnett said: "We have seen a young man take this activity a step further and attempt to plank on a balcony.
"Unfortunately he has tragically fallen to his death. It is what we've been fearing."
The officer said he did not know whether it was Australia's first death from the recent internet craze.
However, he was concerned it may not be the last as 'plankers' tried to out-do each other in more and more dangerous places.
"Police fear that as 'planking' gains popularity there may be more injuries and, potentially, further deaths," Mr Barnett said.
'Planking' has gone viral in recent weeks with Facebook page Planking Australia boasting thousands of fans.
There are hundreds of photos of people lying on train tracks, escalators, motorbikes, and other objects.
