'By 2050, Planes Will Have Transparent Walls'

Air passengers of the future could be able to read bedtime stories to their children back home while staring out at sunny or starry skies

Airbus has designed a new "intelligent" concept cabin with a structure that mimics the efficiency of bird bone.

Travellers in 2050 will have seats that fit their body shapes and be able to enjoy a game of virtual golf or take part in interactive conferences.

And they could do all of this while enjoying a panoramic view of the skies through a transparent cabin wall



In the cabin concept, new personalised zones replace the traditional cabin classes.

The "vitalising zone" helps passengers relax, with vitamin and antioxidant-enriched air, mood lighting, aromatherapy and acupressure treatments.

In the "interactive zone" there are virtual pop-up projections taking passengers to whichever social scene they want to be in, from holographic gaming to virtual changing rooms for active shoppers



The "smart tech zone" is tailored towards the more functional-orientated passenger with what Airbus describes as "a chameleon-style offering, to meet individual needs ranging from a simple to a complete luxury service, but all allowing you to continue life as if on the ground".

When presenting the concept in London Airbus engineering executive vice-president Charles Champion said: "Our research shows that passengers of 2050 will expect a seamless travel experience while also caring for the environment.

"The concept cabin is designed with that in mind, and shows that the journey can be as much a voyage of discovery as the destination."

No way I'm going up in a transparent plane.

In 2050 I'll still be shit scared of flying.

I agree with you The Wall. Flying is not the own of the man...
Jumping with a parachute out of a plane in perfect working order is not something logical for me...
If I add the lack of confidence which I have to the teams
which are supposed to make the maintenance of planes...
I prefer to stay on the ground with the cows !

Walking around a plane with what seems to be nothing between me and the ground several thousand meters below is not really my idea of a calm flight .

Yesterday, 185 bodies were repatriated in France further to the crash of the Airbus from Brazil in mid-ocean two years ago.

They were sent to the forensic medicine institute of Paris for identification. It stays approximately in the carcass of the plane one hundred of bodies.

It seems that the crash is due to an error of the computing...

Other candidates for the transparent plane ?????

If I was meant to fly Nature would have given me a supersonic broomstick.

I would be monumentally drunk and asleep the whole journey..
