My daughters other half and his mum are already interfering and nagging. I'm just sititng them soothng her with laughable comments and threats to come and tape their mouths up.

I agree is is a wonderful feeling, my Nan always said bein aparent was one thing but being a grandparent is all the icing on the cake . I hope I can be half as good as a grandmother as she was to me. That or one who legacy is providing the child will all things loud, messy and e numbered.

I would ,but think my daughter might not agree. No sense of humour gene was passed on to her

My sons the same, no sense of humour, not even his funny bone. Swear hosp gave me the wrong un.

Tried that excuse on my lot, they didn't fall for it.

Nah they rarily do. My son was none to happy when I told him I was doing a DNA test on him, to prove I was his mother. Didn't ever raise a smile out him. Rest of us hooted around.

As some of the FB groupies know. My grandchild has been identified with having a cleft lip/and or palate. Nothngs set in stone until its finished brewing. Then we shall know for definate.

Already see the specialists who have prepared for the arrival. Been talked through all the information on surgery, feeding - special bottles are needed and teats as babys with cleft palate cannot not suck properly so can't get the nutrition.

Have been invited to view the hospital and team and see the families who are in the throes of surgery.

Learnt that if it is cleft palate as well as lip there is ahigh chance of baby being deaf via glue ear or profund due to damage by the cleft. All can be sorted and on hand will be a speech therapist, orthodontics, plastic surgeon, phycholgist and a host of other people as needed.

Nice to know that baby will be seen right upto 24 years, when final piece of surgery will take place if they wish, nose job, as you can't put an adults nose on a baby. They also hold parties for those under their care.

The best thing for me was when they said, We go by the person not by the time slot. If you need 10 mins , you have 10 mins, if you need longer so you shall. Rare in a hosptial is that level of care and understanding.


Rollon June when baby peanut will evicted from its brweing chamber and into is Nana's arms. All who ever catches baby if my duaghters expels follow my own which were super fast.Only 2 daughter had near misses as Midwives pulled some pretty nifty basebal catches. LOL

Sounds a rough trip made easier by careful educated planning. Have you thought or doing 3d scan to see what peanut looks like?
