- Hi all,
Today is an important day in the history of Mininova. From now on, we are limiting Mininova.org to our Content Distribution service. By doing so, we comply with the ruling of the Court of Utrecht of last August.
Unfortunately the court ruling leaves us no other option than to take our platform offline, except for the Content Distribution service. According to the verdict (Dutch link) we have to prevent uploads of torrents to Mininova that refer to certain titles or to similar-looking titles. We’ve been testing some filtering systems the last couple of months, but we found that it’s neither technically nor operationally possible to implement a 100% working filter system. Therefore, we decided that the best option is to limit Mininova to Content Distribution torrents from now on. We are still considering an appeal at this moment.
We launched our Content Distribution service in 2007. This service allows producers and artists to easily publish and distribute their content for free through Mininova. The launch of Content Distribution has proven to be a success. Countless content owners have used Content Distribution to distribute their content (e.g. albums and documentaries) for free to millions of users. For example, the Dutch band Silence is Sexy released their complete album on Mininova and received the Interactive Award 2009 for doing so. The Dutch television broadcaster VPRO decided to start using Content Distribution in 2009 in order to distribute documentaries.
We would like to thank you for your support and making it possible to reach the 10 billion downloads mark last week. Especially our moderating team receives a big “thank you!” for all their hard work! We hope to keep welcoming you on Mininova and our other projects (e.g. Snotr, Dispostable).
Thanks! The Mininova staff Fun while it lasted, although it ended a LONG time ago for me ...

| Well it was a long time coming. The death knell was ringing when they brought that wierd filter system. I suppose the masses will go elsewhere. Shame it was an easy site to navigate around. Unlike some of the others with the complicated rules etc.
Going to mean a right pickle with the torrents that have mininova tagged to them. Can't believe they wiped the lot off. In software were many free to use items and they've all gone. I suppose their hands were tied.

Clutching onto that last bit of power ... poor sods on that forum wont know whats hit 'em now the mods have it as their only 'responsibility'. There wont be enough thread closings / bannings to go round.

| After reading MT's post, I can say this. There are some people suited to being Admin and Moderators, others should remain in their pram with strings on their toys. The 10 second deleter is definitely one of those who should remain in the comfort of the pram until weaned on solid manners. I've seen enough ego trips by power crazed admins and mods to last an etentiy. Never nice to watch a forum being ripped to shreds by the likes of those idiots. Never nice to be caught inthe buffer of warring admins and moderators either. Less is more, simple rules that all obey. It works. Ego trips belong in the pram or playground not in a forum. Puts me right off when I see the ugly head of power-crazies rearing up and clique groups forming. Shame about mini, it was a nice site, aside from the spats on the forum. Easy and simple to navigate. Shame more don't follow that example and do away with the 1000 rules per day you have to do to stay active, that accompany such similiar sites. | |

| I actually joined the mininova forum through TW my first ever forum at that time he said to me its a good place for a laugh and I would learn some more about downloading etc.
I have got to say I am still a member on it but hardly post anything on it unless Im stuck with something. but it has went down hill since the new mods took their role a bit serious I will miss the main site I used to get a fair bit of things from it but I wont be stuck cause through the forums I have met some good friends and have helped me out with different sites and invites etc u know who yous are that's my peace on it.
