| Need some help or advise guys?!?!?! Just been using microsoft word on my laptop and it says i have 14 uses left before i HAVE to enter the product key. I decided to do that now rather than later, however i can't seem to read the numbers and letters on teh sticker as they have rubbed off slightly. I entered what i thought it was but i then get told that it is incorrect. I even took a close up pic to see if i could determine what it was, and also tried to enhance the image with photoshop... again no success. I don't know what else to do, any ideas???? Here are the 2 images i have. Can any of you make out what it is? | |

However, Microsoft office requires it's own serial, not that of the operating system...

| Hang on i just noticed at the top of the pop up window were it wants me to enter the product code it says "2007 microsoft office system". Is that what you meant turnip? so the product key won't work with this then? Oh i'm so confused?!?!?!?!?! So where do i get the key for this ithing, and it is still WORD right? | |

| Word is an Office application, I.E part of the Microsoft Office 'bundle'... So, yeah, I meant the product key for Vista isn't going to work for Office.
Office requires it's own product key, usually found on the inside of the dvd case..
However, I'm guessing this didn't come from a retail DVD so you'll have to have a look around the net (I think it's against the rules to post them here), keep in mind that Microsoft regularly blacklist shared product keys.

| Thought that I'd better mention Open Office. It's not exactly a solution to your problem, just an alternative (I'd use it instead personally). As long as you know there are other options... | |

| Looks good. But can stuff written with this still be opened with WORD and visa versa. Just that i type stuff up for work but would then need to use word in work to open it | |

| Yes, you can save documents in Microsoft Word format.
Microsoft tend to be on the ball when it comes to product keys. In my experience, it's pretty much impossible finding (an openly available) one that hasn't already been blacklisted. As Gaz said, pete might be a better one to ask though...

I'm in a don't care mood........plus I want a some genuine windows xp codes myself soon lol! I think I can give you a Genuine XP code. I found out my daughters lap top and my old system have the same code. When I queried it with the manufacturer they said it was correct. So I am assuming it will work on everybody's. As for vista, might be the same for that too, haven't checked that yet with my newer system and my other daughters laptop.

| My mates just got hold of a windows 7 Ultimate edition so thinking of trying that out instead. Surely it's gotta be better than this god forsaken Vista...... What a load of crap it is. | |
