| The Football League have confirmed Crystal Palace have been deducted 10 points with immediate effect after going into administration. Eagles chairman Simon Jordan had been attempting to attract new investment into the club, who were late in paying their players twice this season. But on Tuesday Brendon Guilfoyle, Chris White and John Russell of the P&A Partnership were appointed administrators. Now Palace find themselves in a relegation battle after falling from ninth to 21st and just three points clear of the bottom three. A league statement read: "Following receipt of formal confirmation that Crystal Palace Football Club has gone into administration, the Football League can confirm a sporting sanction of 10 points will apply with immediate effect." | |

| I don't understand the mentality in deducting points for going into administration. Firstly what has points from the leauge results got to do with the clubs financial situation, and secondly how does deducting points do the club an favours in getting out of administration.
Surely there is a better way of issuing a punishment!

| And they signed a player yesterday??
What player in his right mind would sign for pompey at the moment?
If they can't afford to keep a website open, his wage prospects dont look to clever.
On Palace, the administrators wouldn't let their star player play last night, for fear of injuring their 'prize asset' ... what a joke.

| I dont get how it works though? All these clubs apparently had money ... Palace with that pufter Jordan, Notts County with their takeover, Sven, Sol etc and it was only a few seasons ago they were talking of Cardiff going to the Prem and having the potential to be one of the big clubs. | |

| Rangers' DaMarcus Beasley has spoken of his shock after his car was deliberately set on fire. The American's blazing BMW 6-Series was found in Queen's Gardens in Glasgow's west end just after 2300 GMT on Monday. Police said they were treating it as wilful fireraising and were trying to trace the occupants of a white car seen in the area. Beasley's BMW was parked outside his home when it was targeted, the Daily Record said. United States international Beasley told the newspaper: "I don't know how to take it really. It's pretty crazy. "If it is a Celtic-Rangers thing then it's obviously not good. "It has shocked me - you don't expect to be targeted like this. But I'm not going to be too upset by it." He told the newspaper that the incident had not really made him think twice about playing for Rangers. On his social networking Twitter page, the footballer thanked well-wishers for their messages of support. He wrote: "Thanks again for ALL the messages and kind words.. But yea I'm doin ok and in the market for a new car! Lol..Gotta try to find some humor" and "I'm doin ok, jus glad no one got hurt". Strathclyde Police appealed for information about the incident, which also left a BMW 5-Series damaged by fire. A Rangers spokesman said: "This is a disturbing and deplorable incident and the club will do everything we can to assist the police with their investigations."
Fuckin hell, not too over the top then....its a nicked/burnt out car..happens every minute of every day...when it happened to me (daughters pram etc still in it) the police just shrugged and said it musn't have been locked properly...plus, if anyone can afford replace a car its a Professional footballer...

| Sam Allardyce has confirmed Blackburn Rovers missed out on the deadline day signings of Benjani and Aruna Dindane following the departure of Benni McCarthy to West Ham United.
Rovers accepted an offer from West Ham to allow McCarthy to move to Upton Park and Allardyce had been keen to bring in a replacement before the transfer window closed. He had lined up a deal for Benjani, who ultimately joined Sunderland from Manchester City, and also wanted Aruna Dindane, who is on loan at Portsmouth. However, after agreeing terms and seeing Dindane undergo a medical, Allardyce revealed Blackburn were unable to finalise the deal before Monday's 5pm deadline.
"If I was Benni - as a player at his age - I'd want to go as well, so I've got no problems with that and in the end I've got no problems with the price that we got," said Allardyce.
"The biggest problem for us is that we didn't get anyone in to replace him. "We tried to sign Benjani on a full-time basis, but the work permit was a big problem, getting it through on time. Then it could only become a loan scenario."He wasn't the only player we went for - we went for many players before that, but couldn't get it to a conclusion. Because Benni's transfer was so late, it was virtually impossible for us to secure one of the players that we had our eye on from abroad."So we finally ended up with Benjani, and he ended up going for Sunderland rather than us. "We had to try and move quickly, because that decision was late on Monday, to try and get Aruna Dindane in and unfortunately, even though he was in the building right the way up to five o'clock, we couldn't get it through. We didn't have enough time to finish the paperwork. "He was in the building, he had done the medical and we were trying to get a bit of leeway from the Premier League, but they wouldn't see fit to do anything for us. So when five o'clock came we just had to say, 'I'm very sorry, it hasn't happened'.
And i thought our transfer window was disappointing..
