New Xbox 360 disc format

This is an important update as we continually strive to improve our products and we could not do so without the help of our great Xbox community. As part of the preview program, you will receive a copy of Halo: Reach along with other possible rewards."


It looks like they are trying to put an end to piracy. It will be cracked eventually I'd assume, but what do you guys think?

They are always trying to put an end to piracy, and it's always found a way around, be it music, movies or games..

They will never stop piracy, at best slow it down a little. And the only way they will ever do that is not by adding new security measures to their products, but by lowering the price to a reasonable cost for the public. Not everyone can afford to spend £40 to £50 for 1 game

I signed up for the preview and if I get accepted I'll get a free copy of Halo Reach. We'll see what they change since I've always been accepted in the past.

So is it all this AP 2.5 security thing then...?

I can't play Reach anymore after updating to the new dashboard, same with Black Ops (AP 2.5 was added to be triggered at dashboard update)..

New games come out, update needed, you update, certain other games don't work anymore..very clever, but already there's a way around it, has been for months, as long as you have £30 spare..

I read they are changing the discs completely. Supposedly they will be using 7.8gb disc as opposed to your normal 8.4gb or 4.7gb. Don't quote me on that. I just read it in some research and I'm not sure where because I read a lot of different pages on it.

As far as I know Microsoft hasn't released any info other than "a new disc format" so you could very well be right.

@TK It is US only and they already have enough participants. It closed some time this morning.
