During Saturdays FA Cup match between Tottenham and Bolton, Fabrice Muamba, aged 23 fell to the ground for no apparent reason, staff and paramedics spent 10 minutes trying desperately to resuscitate him, he is currently in a critical condition in a top London hospital fighting for his life, it appears he suffered a cardiac arrest and doctors tried for 2 hours to get his heart to start to work without assistance.
Whilst we all have our favourite teams it is great to see the world of football unite in praying for the speedy recovery of such a young talent.
I sincerely hope that this young man can pull through.

Fabrice Muamba is "showing small signs of improvement" according to a joint statement from Barts hospital and Bolton Wanderers. Associated Press is also reporting that a friend says the midfielder is speaking again.

Not an isolated case, some others have also collasped suddenly with heart problems. Some not so lucky. Being super fit sees to take a toll on the body.
Fingers crossed he recovers.

There was a huge story locally to us, an 11 year old lad collapsed and died from the same thing on the pitch just after scoring a goal for his Sunday league game just before Christmas, it made the national papers.....Liam Wood.
Latest news on Fabrice is that he is now concious, heart working without medication and able to communicate..........there's still a long way to go but at least it's a step in the right direction.
I can't see how he will be able to return to football again but for now at least he has his life.

Sudden Adult death. Probably what Fabrice had. More prevalent than most think. Children getting it too, cot death is the form for babys etc. Horrendous ailment.

Stacey, 21, provoked revulsion with comments made while the Bolton Wanderers star still lay on the pitch. The 23-year-old midfielder was left fighting for his life after suffering a heart attack during an FA Cup tie on March 17. Horrified fans watched live on TV as he fell to the ground during the quarter-final clash at Tottenham Hotspur. Police were inundated with complaints as members of the public reported the student's comments. Stacey, a Swansea University biology undergraduate, was quickly tracked down and arrested.
