just a little annoucement.

I will continue the art side of things here on Maddogz. It gives me something to focus on and I find arty things ease my mind. I won't be so active in other areas. I just can't focus on much. Lost my womanly multitasking mojo.

I've been a little preoccupied of late and may have been a little to sharp as well. Sorry for that, hadn't twigged I had but sorry if I have seemed a bit grouchy. Reason, and it does not excuse my grouchiness in anyway, I found a lump in my neck. I have had an ultrasound scan. My liittle lump is there and proudly swollen to just under an inch in size and a few pea sized one also are up. I then had my thyroid scanned, and then the right. Senior Radiologist was called in to recheck it out. He confimed the lumps are my lymph nodes and the mass is leaning on my major artery and to remmber that. My GP will be in contact and another more detailed scan will be arranged too. I've had the second scan today and judging by the faces on both radiologists it had't improved. Its definetly in my lymph nodes and to tell GP that when I go see her.

My panic and feak out moments are my first lump appeared is in same place as my mums was, when she was diagnosed with cancer. Normally I'm rational but this just threw my rationaity out the window. Bit of a deja vu moment thats caught me off guard and made me a little too emotional at present.


For those of you on my Facebook, please say nothing. My daughter is 6month pregnant and not doing very well at present. I do not want her stressing out any further . Putitng her in danger again, she's already very ill and is exhausted. Please not a word spoken to typed about it. My focus is getting her well and baby brewing nicely ready to pop out in June. Me, I can cope and deal with at a later date. Her life and babys are far more important.

Wasn't sure if anybody noticed Spells absence or knew that she is in hosptial?

Spells is now recovering nicely after succombing to a thyroid coma due to her thryoxine levels dropping off rapidly. Spells was caught quickly before she was completely comatosed and has responded to treatment, no damage to her heart. That being a good sign. The heart is often stressed out during a thryoid coma as it is thyroid that controls the heart, roughly speaking.

Fingers crossed she will be back home on Tuesday after the Consultant see's her. She has had transfusions of blood, iron and is on oxygen which altogether have upped her blood stat results. She looks more pink than grey now. Which for a witch must be odd as they should be green.

Krako, off another forum broke the news above and is in touch with Sandra who is with Spells at the hospital. Spell's hubby is hosptial phobic so Sandra remains there and she was the one who instigated getting Spells to hosptial pronto.

Due to Spells daughters not having a good pregnancy and is also suffering an unstable thyroid and is quite ill too. It has been asked that nobody mentions it on facebook. Spells daughter is currently having a holiday where she is being throughtly pampered to ease the stress of the baby not doing very well and also her own health. So please respect the request to keep quiet about this, espeically on facebook.

Orgot to update.

Spells is home and is still poorly but doing much better. Saw her online for first time today.

She says scan of her throat still shows very enlarged lymph glands and thyroid. She is awaitng appointment for specialist to find out why this has happened. It doesn't hurt unless he catches the jaw bone on the glands, more uncomfortable than painful. Swallowing is not easy as she says it was like trying to eat another housebrick while the first is stuck in your throat already. There is warning if she struggles to swallow water or breath it is straight into Emergency or to her Drs to be sent into hosptial for hydration or an airway put in.

Spells is underactive thyroid and that doesn't cause swelling, as also repeated bloods showed her levels are still low, backs that up. Lymph glands don't swell either so that one is the ore worrying side.

At least she is feeling a bit more like her witchy self and no doubt will be casting spells of squeaks on everybody.

She says thanks to all those who sent her get well messages and will pop in when feeling abit more energetic.

Better news at least and I miss her humor and wise cracks so fingers crossed to her reappearing soon.

I will be appearing on and off. Not quite fully back to my usual bouncing witch self. Have a throat and neck which is still swollen up and my lymph nodes are still very much enlarged and quite tender in places. The lymph nodes are very enlarged alongside the main artiers of the neck and very noticable. Only painful if i catch them turning my head. The lymph glands are also up iunder my arms and across the shoulder area. The shoulder area is very sore to touch and the pain radius is worrisome.

I've got an MRI next week so might get a better image of what is going on or if any changes have occured since the last ultrasound I had in hosptial.

To say I'm shattered is an understatment I am really worn out despite sleeping long hours and increased Thyroxine. Worst of all I haven't grown in length.

Hello there; The worry brought on a case of selective mutism

As if my being icky would silence you Mr thousand and one questions.

So... Have I missed the latest sitrep?

How are you doing lately GG?

No been busy being seen by speacialists and dealing with my daughters pregnancy.

On Thyroid side I have , I have advance , the speacialists call it cancer but its not that kind of cancer its a term they use. for this condition. Its more down to I am now antibody postiive which means Im attacking the thyroid and thyroxine secreations and will end up with me attacking and destoying all of me. Autoimmune disease is part of this. Which is why the thyroid is enlarged with swollen/hard nodules and its pushing onto my windpipe giving me breathing difficulties. My lymph glands all being enlarged and hard iis the 'cancer' side of it. The glands instead of healing are agressively destroying, in this case my thyroid. My immune system is non exsitant now. The thyroid as it is being attacked my me, means that the symptons that I have suffered with are because of this. The headaches, twisting bones sensation, muscle nerve and tendon damage, the fire ants sensation to whole of the skin, the memory damage, violent moods swings, extreme tiredness, sleep dperavation, heat and cold intolarance, boils, hormonal imbalance and ovarian cysts, weight issue and erratic heart and blood pressure. All are because Im not getting the thyroxine I have to have to live.

Im undergoing careful management and treatment. The hope is to stablise me so the thyroxine is going where it should be. First part of the program is for me to take differing levels of thyroxine, 75 and 100mgs alternate days. If the thryoid swells up more, that dosage will be tailored down. The speacialit said I need minimum 150 mgs of thyroxine daily thats the least I can get away with. Beacuse of the attack on thyroid and thyroxine, I can't take 150mgs or higher staright off. Simply I will die. The alternate is to fool the body and try and reboot it to recognise that this is essential and not to attack it.

If this works then I shold avet anymore damage. If it doesn't the damage will get worse as will my symptons. Believe me I have a very high pain threshold and I'm struggling to cope.

This runs in family, my daughter has underactive and has to be tested for the anitbody markers. Hopefully it wont be any. Both her and the baby, when its born will be tested. My other children have not got any issues yet but routine checks will include the thyroid levels and antibodies. My Dad is where I got it from, but the Speacilist belives my mum had it and it was missed. I was missed and it ignored which is why my damge is so severe and that the thyroid swelling was the final alert, which was cuaght by me feeling the lymph node lump. He blames my GP and some of the hosptial Consultants for ignoring the obvious markers indicating clearly thryoid problems. If they had bothered to take not and run the blood tests most of my problems now would have been avoided.

Im to see a heart specialsit to see how damged my heart is, erratic heart rate and pressure and extra heart beats, heart pain.

If I had continued to be untreated he said it would be lucky if I was still alive in 6 months. He now hopes I prove him wrong. If the first stage fails, the second stage involves my thyroid being removed, either by surgery(unlikely to survive the anaethesia) or by radiation, which means I have to keep 6 feet away from everybody and animal while thats done. Removing it may stop the attack and allow the thyroxine tablets to work. Eitehr way Im going to become very ill until something gives out and hopefully not my heart.

As for my spine, my neck veterbra is fusing solid with claw growths which have crimped the central nerve cord, and the junction nerves to the left. My paralysis is due to that and the MRI shows the narrowing very well. TThe right side is also affected but is very minor. I declined an injection into my neck to relive the nerves. There was a risk that the paralysis could become permanent rahter than gradual if left alone. Good news is the top 4 vertebra have broke the claws off. So it is hoped the rest follow. I have physio to bolster up the left side which is my worst side. In my first session, not for the faint hearted, the physio manipulated my ribs, shoulder and blade and the top middle section of bones back into place. My shoulde and rib bones being very out. To say OW FLAMING OW SCREAM OW is barely touching the pain that caused me.

I sat up, but my god did i feel better and lighter and able to move more than normal. Physio said it may take a couple of these sessions to put them back in place. hurts but it feels brilliant and I slept like a log for the first time in years. Follwing day I put my shulder back out. I can tell the difference, still feels better despite that. So fingers crossed if I can stay feeling like this and alliviate the squashing down it will prolong the time before total paralysis occurs.


So one one hand I feel better knowing whats going on I'm still very ill but in a better position than I was.
