| there is a free operating system that i have been introduced to called Unbuntu there are vids on youtube of the system running i am running it now and am very impressed.

| I have tried many Linux OS's (Ubuntu being one) and always gone back to XP. They are great if you like playing!!! Its good to have one as a secondary system, all the software is free and there are hardly any virus attacks on Linux systems either. | Linux distro's, although mostly brilliant, do take some getting used to.
As ABOC suggested, sticking it on an old machine or setting up a dual boot system is the way to go (at least to start with)... | |

| tbh i only got this operating system yesterday when i rebuilt my comp yesterday and for some reason i find it much more enjoyable to use already just for the fact it dont muck up and take a century to open up anything on it | |

| linux OS's are loads better for slower machines, when you put one on a powerful PC it goes at the speed of a Gazelle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And its fun trying something new, don't you reckon TDKing???????????!! | |

| yup i agree totally mate its wonderful am used to everything running slow and now am doing about 700 things at once and its not even changed speeds cant wait to get Photo shop installed then al be well happy and can start playing around with it again :) | |

| if you like playing with a different os and don't want to dual boot it ,try knoppix it is a live cd ,and uses the ram not the hd to run its self its free | |
