| Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen says he is flattered to be linked with Celtic but will honour his contract to stay at Ewood Park until the end of the season. The Norway international is out of contract in the summer and discussions have not progressed with Rovers since talks were held back in August. While the 28-year-old says he knows there are clubs interested in his signature, he is refusing to speculate on his future. He told Nettavisen: "(My agent) Rune Hauge takes care of all that. All I want to do is play football." But he admitted he is flattered to be linked with Tony Mowbray's Celtic. "They are a big club in Europe. They play regularly in Europe and that is a bonus for all players," he said. "I have never played in the Champions League and that is a dream for me, of course. "At the same time, I will honour my contract with Blackburn." Really... | |

Really... Ha! He's been fuckin' terrible this season and everything is pointing towards the exit door for him anyway. He aint even trying anymore and even the crowds have turned on him ... We should have sold him to Utd when they came sniffing a few seasons back. I'm wondering how much of that statement is pedersen and how much is his agent putting the word around that 'clubs are interested'?

| Walter Smith has revealed he would be prepared to let Neil Alexander leave Rangers.
Goalkeeper Alexander has said he will consider quitting the club if he continues to play second fiddle to Allan McGregor.
Alexander, 31, made his first Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League appearance of the season in Saturday's 3-0 win over St Johnstone after McGregor suffered a hamstring injury.
He will also start Tuesday's trip to Dundee United but is resigned to losing his place once his rival is fit - as he has has done during his entire two-year Rangers career.
Smith said: "If he does come and say to me that he would like to go somewhere else and play, then obviously if the time's right and the opportunity's there then we have to let him do so."
Smith insists he can understand the frustration of Alexander, adding: "It's natural; footballers want to play football.
"Especially in the goalkeeping position, you don't get that many opportunities."
Alexander is one of a number of players to have been linked with a January move from the club and Smith joked: "He's probably joined the long list of our players who are all leaving in January.
"It's impossible for us to win a league championship with the amount of them who are leaving in that transfer window.
"I think it was eight this morning."
Smith admitted it had been awkward repeatedly axing Alexander, despite the keeper having not put a foot wrong.
"As a manager, you stand or fall by those decisions," he said.
"But it is awkward, considering that he's a terrific professional.
"He's not let the disappointment prevent him applying himself to the game."
He added: "He's been excellent for us when he's come in and played."
Smith also laughed off the latest quotes attributed to Algeria defender Madjid Bougherra, who reportedly wants a summer move back to the Barclays Premier League.
"It makes a change from the transfer window in January, which is a relief to us all!" Smith said. "Madjid seems to carry out these conversations on a regular basis. If it's not him, it's his agent.
"Whether he leaves this summer or not, I'm not quite sure."
Smith, who is becoming increasingly resigned to losing Bougherra to Algeria for the festive programme, added: "He's not leaving in January anyway, except to go to the African Nations Cup."
Smith, who also confirmed midfielder Pedro Mendes would not be fit to return from his knee injury for another month, takes his side to Tannadice on Tuesday for a rearranged SPL fixture.
The postponement led to a war of words between Rangers chief executive Martin Bain and United chairman Stephen Thompson over the latter's refusal to allow supporters in for free after last month's original fixture was abandoned at half-time.
Many visiting fans are boycotting the game in protest and Smith said: "I think it is a shame that supporters are having to be asked to pay again.
"It's happened and if our supporters don't go, that's their right and I'd agree with that."
Smith, who believes his side will handle playing in front of a relatively small travelling support, will be looking for them to leapfrog Celtic at the top of the table.
The game in hand is the first of a run of five fixtures Smith believes could affect the outcome of the title race, ending with the Old Firm derby on January 3.
But he also pointed out the last two championships have been won by teams coming from behind in the second half of the season.
"Last year, when we got over the Celtic game we were seven points behind and we managed to claw that back," he added.
"The previous season Celtic had been seven points behind Rangers and they managed to claw that back as well. So maybe that's the secret."

| Stoke manager Tony Pulis believes Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger is wrong to "moan like a drain" about weakened sides and fixture congestion.
The Gunners boss was furious Wolves manager Mick McCarthy fielded a second-string team in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United on Tuesday.
Last night, after a 1-1 draw at Burnley, he railed against the Premier League fixture schedule which meant his side would play three matches in a week whereas Saturday's opponents Hull had no midweek involvement.
Pulis, however, believes that although the Wenger is arguing the case for his club, the Frenchman should just get on with the job.
"Wenger is moaning like a drain because it doesn't suit Arsenal. He ain't moaning because it doesn't suit Stoke," said Pulis.
"He is saying it because it doesn't suit him and that was what Mick has done.
"I don't think it was the walk in the park (for United) that people are suggesting.
"The players Mick played, most of them are seasoned professionals - he hasn't played the youth team - who he has spent decent money on.
"There is one important point here and that is that Mick McCarthy will do whatever he thinks is best for Wolves."
Stoke had their match on Tuesday against Fulham at the Britannia Stadium postponed as the Cottagers were involved in Europa League action the following day.
Pulis argued that worked against his side as, having hosted Wigan last weekend, he would have liked to have had back-to-back home games.
Instead Stoke now face successive away trips to Aston Villa on Saturday and then Manchester City.
"We would have preferred to have got that game in - it was a home game - because it would have been advantageous," Pulis added.
"We are a little bit disappointed we have not played but the success Fulham have had getting caught up in Europa Cup games is no fault of theirs.
"We have now got two very tough games, Villa and Manchester City away, and then we play the form team Birmingham on Monday week so it is a tough test for us.
"No disrespect to Wenger or any foreign manager but I don't think there is anything wrong with asking professional athletes to perform twice in three or four days.
"That sometimes is the way it happens. We have had to take it on the chin because I'd have preferred to have played Fulham on Tuesday.
"That would have been another home game and, fingers-crossed, we would have got a result and would not be looking down the barrel of two difficult away games.
"That is the way it crumbles. Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it goes against you."

| I thought McCarthy was bang on with his tactics last night ... Anyone but a dreamer knew that they would get beat with whatever side he put out. Why not rest your players for the Christmas fixtures and the games the they might have a chance of winning? Thumbs up from me ... the fans might not like it, but its practical managing I reckon. Oh and fuck Wenger, the sour faced, moaning frog man ... wasn't long ago that our 'physical' style of play was the cause of climate change to him ... tosser! | |
