Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez took great satisfaction in dismissing counterpart Sam Allardyce's style of football after his side's 2-1 victory over Blackburn at Anfield on Sunday. On the field there was a goalscoring return for Fernando Torres, who marked his first start since January 13 by netting the winner. Torres, who was sidelined for five weeks after a knee operation, scored his 13th goal in 17 Barclays Premier League appearances a minute before half-time. Just before that, Keith Andrews had equalised from the penalty spot after Jamie Carragher's handball to cancel out Steven Gerrard's 20th-minute opener. But all the action took place in the post-match press conference, with Benitez sarcastically claiming European champions Barcelona were considering adopting Allardyce's methods. "It is really important (the way to play) but sometimes we cannot play football," said the Spaniard. "If they (Blackburn) are pleased with the way they play under this manager, it is their decision. "We won so they have to be thinking about whether the style is good or not. "I think it is a model for all the managers around the world, their style of football, his (Allardyce's) behaviour. "It is the perfect model for all the kids and I'm sure all parents will enjoy this model and encourage their kids to be the same. "The style of football I think Barcelona are thinking of copying." Prior to the match, Allardyce had claimed Benitez had turned Liverpool into a side scrapping for results, akin to his former Bolton team. The pair have history dating back to Benitez's first encounter with Wanderers in August 2004, when Sami Hyypia sustained a broken nose in the opening minutes of a game that ended in defeat for the Reds. Allardyce said of his pre-match criticism: "It was only because Liverpool have a go at me and because I am entitled to respond when I get criticised by Rafa Benitez. "If you don't understand that over the last few years, you must be deluded. "Not this time but many other times I have been criticised personally by the manager." Allardyce felt his side deserved more out of the game, adding: "If we had had a goalscorer we would have won the game on chances created. "We haven't come here and hung on, we've dominated the game for long periods. "We had five bookings and 25 fouls given against us, which was, for me, a wrong reflection on how we played." Blackburn's over-physical approach, however, could easily have seen Steven Nzonzi, who pushed Lucas Leiva in the face, and Pascal Chimbonda, who kicked Maxi Rodriguez in the chest, red-carded in off-the-ball misdemeanours. "Nzonzi was very clear, touching the face of Lucas, and the rules are the rules," added Benitez. "We have had four of five players with problems, bleeding, and Maxi with stud (marks) in his abdomen. Interesting, but we won.

What would your England team be for tonight..?
Hart Brown (only right back unfortunately), Shawcross, Terry, Warnock Milner, Gerrard, Lampard, Barry Rooney, Defoe or if injured Carlton Cole.

Norwich boss Paul Lambert has ruled out returning to Celtic as manager at any time in his career. The former Hoops captain has been suggested as a possible future replacement to Tony Mowbray, who is under more pressure at Parkhead following Sunday's defeat at Rangers which leaves them 10 points off the pace in the SPL. Lambert skippered Celtic in the 2003 UEFA Cup final against Porto in Seville but isn't interested in a return to Scotland. "I had eight terrific years at Celtic but there comes a time when you have to cut your ties," he told the Daily Record. "I still look for Celtic's result and Seville will always remain the biggest disappointment in my football career. But the idea of coming back doesn't appeal to me." Norwich are on course for promotion from League One this season and his challenge with the Canaries is of greater appeal than the SPL. The 40-year-old added: "I mean no disrespect to Scottish football but England is just a bigger place. I'm proud of my Scottish heritage but a move back home is not for me. "The idea of playing the same club anything from four to six times a season doesn't appeal to me."

Have to say, hats off to Egypt who i think are playing really well and making England struggle, but by god we look bad dont we..?
Walcott instead of Ashley Young or James Milner, really..?
Wes Brown..?
Gerrards forgot how pass, Lampards forgot how score..
Upson and Terry are like the Bambi twins on ice...
Baines dont look international class sadly..
Irrespective of the final result theres lots of decisions for Don Fabio to make on this performance..

Not good at all Gaz, and to think people go on about how England are gonna do so well this world cup. Yet we struggle against a bunch of Camel Humpers!
And to think what these guys are paid weekly, yet they can't be arsed to bring the skill they get this wage for to the international scene.
Useless!

You actually did some study TW?
I said to Gaz last night how I didn't think we had a cat in hells chance at the world cup. Crouche looks a good prospect for a place, every time he plays for England he does well. Isn't it some thing like 21 goals in 37 matches?

Jim Jefferies welcomed news the Scottish Premier League are considering expanding the top flight to 16 teams.
Hearts boss Jefferies has been one of the champions of league reform for some time, claiming clubs playing each other four times a season is having a detrimental effect on the Scottish game.
"I've been shouting about it for ages," said Jefferies, who believes the SPL would be made better by the inclusion of sides like Dundee, Dunfermline, Partick Thistle and Inverness.
"There are some good clubs in the First Division; there are some good facilities.
"If they were all back in the top tier, they would get bigger crowds - that's a fact.
He added: "The quicker we get back to playing home and away, the better, I think - whatever the size of league, whatever the format.
"Playing each other four times has had its day.
"We're getting too familiar with each other - we know each other's games.
"I don't think there's any motivation for the supporters to go twice to see a team at home."
Jefferies acknowledged a 12-team division made the competition exciting.
He added: "You've still got to have that but, at the same time, the way that it's set up now isn't helping the football.
"And that's the main thing."

Nice one, would be interesting to see ...
I'm pretty sure they played each other in the FA Cup way back when, or it could have been Blackburn Olympic or i could be completely wrong.

Blackpool 13/10, Norwich 2/5 ... thats actually not a bad bet on its own, you'd have to put some serious money on it to make a profit worth the risk though.
I've just put £30 on the 6 I picked, return will be £195 ... easy mullah.
