50mph wind gusting on the east coast

the weather is really bad out here. i live in north eastern united states and winds are gusting well over 50 mph. tree branches are all over the street. its nasty out there. any one else over here lives on the east coast?

There was a bad wind storm that missed the UK a couple of weeks ago, but hit france and spain. From the weather map it looked like a hurricane. Yet it was just classed as a gusty wind.

we had winds of 70km/h and heavy rain during the weekend (mostly saturday), haven't heard of them causing any damage though

Gris Gris some wind gusts around 160 K/h, Dikes down on western coast with flooding up to 3 to 4 meters in places. in the Pyrénées, lots of villages cut off and power and telephone lines down. Here we have what the locals call "Le Vent D'antan". Average wind speeds can go up to 100 K/h , some as much as 120-130.

It's a good job my mum hasn't read this yet, she's petrified of high winds.....

you'd think with the amount my dad blows off she'd be used to it by now!

Le Vent D'Antan when it stops blowing means a downpour is arriving! It stops from being south/south-east to west/north-west.
