- My wife made me Tom Yam kung Yesterday for dinner. It's a little spicy soup with shrimps , mushrooms, lemon grass.. but better i give you the recipe
Ingredients
* 1/2 pound medium shrimp - peeled and deveined * 12 mushrooms, halved * 1 (4.5 ounce) can mushrooms, drained * 4 cups water * 2 lemon grass * 4 kaffir lime leaves * 4 slices galangal * 4 chile padi (bird's eye chiles) * 1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce * 1 1/2 limes, juiced * 1 teaspoon white sugar * 1 teaspoon hot chile paste
Directions
1. Trim lemongrass and cut into matchstick size pieces. 2. To make stock: Add the shrimp heads and shells to water, then cook for 20 minutes. Turn the fire off. Soak the heads and shells for further 20 minutes before discarding. 3. Trim lemongrass and cut into matchstick size pieces. 4. Add stock, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, chili padi, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and chili paste to a pot and bring to a boil. After boiling for 5 minutes, add shrimps and both mushrooms. Cook for further 10 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.
That looks yum, minus the prawns and fish sauce obviously...

| I'm just off to make some lobby..... Everything in a pot, salt, tatoes, leeks, carrots, onions, peas, sweetcorn ( can add cauli florets, turnip, stewing beef, whatever) Chop it, fill to the top with water, boil till soft, stir in gravy and your good to go.. Liverpool Scouse is similar, as is Irish Stew and Lancashire hotpot i spose, that sorta thing..most regions have one of their own.. | |

| For dinner, had a proper Coq au Vin, Not out of a packet job. Totally converted to proper version now. Easy to do as well. Needed a tad less salt, me think I got a tad overly liberal with the salt.

You were late, Dinner was at 6pm. Dinner tonight was simple jacket tatty with cheese. Didn't feel like cooking, having cooked many cakes and biccy's for the dogs earlier. My kitchen was guarded while the dog cookies were in the oven. In the event of a burgulary the oven was completely secure, the rest of the house not so.
