I'm currently playing around with the look of the home page........while my technical skills are limited, I would appreciate your thoughts on the look of it and I will take on board any suggestions or ideas on ways to make it look the best it can be.

I'm in the unsure camp at the moment...
While i like animated stuff ( backgrounds. sigs, avatars ) etc etc.., sometimes it just gets annoying on the eye...
But on the other hand it definitelty adds to the site...

Animation is good! Bubbles are good! Static screens can get boring real quick - even when we are not aware of it!

I think less is more in this case. It is too distracting to the eye IMO. Takes away from the important stuff (threads)

Right the bubbles have gone............I do listen to my troops!
I'm trying out various backgrounds and Gris Gris kindly made the one we have now.........we may very well go back to a plain black but I still need your feedback please......it matters!

Fair play to you Miss T, it's nice to see that the admin listen to the members! Not many forums are that considerate (i should know, a member of many). I really like this Black & Red look.

I don't like animated backgrounds, save that for the banner or the bars. Simple for me my reasoning is, it makes me disorientated and I start to enter a head spin, as was the case with the bubbles. If you choose to do an animated background can you make it a user choice please.
If you want backgrounds ask, I can do them as well. Although I am rusty on PHP backgrounds. I tend to go for invision as they are less prone to throwing fits when something gets changed as php does. My banner looks horrendous as a background. I can't see my dog

We're just testing stuff out.....
