yeah you know likes when you put a new vista on to a laptop you need the drivers fro like sound, graphics, etc

So, for example - Nvidia's drivers page if you have a GeForce graphics card, or Nforce chipset motherboard.

There are "driver wizards" that can identify hardware and find drivers for you but I've never used one so I can't suggest one. Having said that, making Windows genuine and allowing Windows update to find them for you may make your life easier.

If you look up your computers manufacturers make and model you should get a divers page for it. I did for my daughters Toshiba laptop. It had both XP and Vista.
