| If the Vista you are using is not a genuine one, allowing the updates may not let it pass Windows genuine advantage and it will keep telling you you are using a fake copy. Some copies are WGA bypassed so you might be ok? If it doesn't pass, you might need to re-install again and turn off automatic updates. | |

Really don't understand why you put Vista on a pc that only has 500mb ram, Vista need a min of 1gig to run. You should have stuck with XP like I told you TMS

TMS +1 Although I would say a Linux distro' is an even better option than XP even. RAM really isn't that expensive at the moment though, so maybe just upgrade (4GB would be best).

I think that is what has happened on the missus comp. All of a sudden it has changed the background of the desktop to blue and pop-ups keep appearing saying "you may be a victim of fake software" or something like that. It was running "black wndows" (something a friend put on it). I told her not to accept any updates and she says she hasn't, but i'm not sure. Also, around that time wireless connection stopped working for that comp and i wonder if that has anything to do with it??? I rang Belkin but they say that the either the connection is being blocked by a firewall or antivirus program. That can't be the case as both comps have the same firewall and antivirus programs and mine is fine. But they say it has to be that because the wireless adapter is receiving the connection but the computer won't connect. I did fail to tell tehm about the black windows thingy. So i'm wondering if just normal windows XP was reinstalled would that fix the problem?

| Apparently the genuine Vista snipping tool has been unofficially ported to XP, but this program -> Snippy <- seems as close as makes no odds. That is judging by the screenshots, etc... I havn't actually tested it. With adblock I'm pretty sure you can right click and block an image, but I don't actually use it, so once again I havn't tested that. | |
